I love so much about this book — the whole rendering of the world is so great. The environmental undertones (protect and respect nature OR ELSE…. duh duh DUH!! *dramatic music*) are darkly sinister, yet also completely understandable and don’t overtake the plot. I love how the city and weather are characters (sometimes literally) and create such a huge scope to a story so tightly centered around a small group of people. The Others are my favorite: both human and not, with their “not” still relatable, which is a thin line to walk. Although this series doesn’t hook me in the same way that the Black Jewels series did, it’s still a really great series and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for excellent fantasy.
