5-star quick review: Uprooted (Naomi Novik)

uprootedIt’s so hard to make a new fairy tale that seems both unique and inevitable at the same time. Uprooted is a beautifully-written book with a really interesting and consistent magic system, likable characters (Agnieszka is consistently awesome, the arc of the “Dragon” to likability is earned every step of the way), and fresh adventure. And, you know, hooray for hot, immortal wizard sex.

I’ve heard rumors that folks want to make it into a movie and, on the one hand, YAY MORE EXPOSURE! And on the other hand… I don’t want them to cut a single thing at all.
