Really great book. I always hesitate in a post-Frozen world to read more Snow Queen retellings, but this version felt fresh and character-driven in a way that made me completely forget the Disney comparisons (which is perfect). Seeing the familiar world developed in KM Shea’s other fairy tale books and seeing how it all functioned hundreds of years before — and how so many of the familiar set pieces came to be — was really great and made me want to dive back in and re-read the Swan book and Rumpelstiltskin books set in the Snow Queen’s land. Very fun read. I’m already half-way through the sequel, and enjoying it just as much. 🙂
